THE PROOF IS IN THE STONE
WHAT MAKES IT SO SPECIAL?
Our stone is classified as High Density Type III Limestone by ASTM standards…and that makes us unique. Most limestone from the region is the less dense and stain prone Type II limestone. Why is type III limestone classification a big deal? Consider the factors ASTM measures; Absorption Rate, Compressive Strength, Modulus of Rupture, Flexural Strength, Abrasion Resistance, Solar Reflectivity Index rating, and the Coefficient of Friction for slip resistance. You’ll find that our test data all significantly surpasses the minimum requirements of ASTM Type III Limestone.
The ability to withstand water penetration, superior strength in every category, solar reflectivity to escape the heat island effect, outstanding wear resistance and durability sets our material apart from other limestone and marble materials. Then consider the other benefits of natural limestone. It’s a recyclable material with no hazardous waste, it’s freeze/thaw resistant and has no V.O.C. emissions. Plus, it’s a low maintenance interior or exterior product that can be used on all horizontal and vertical surfaces. We believe this is a very big deal for our customers!
The Valders quarry yields stone in large block form rather than the loose thin naturally occurring layers common in most limestone quarries, like our mines in Eden, Oakfield, Chilton and Stevens Point. Working with large limestone blocks allows the fabrication of limestone products in the variety of sizes and thicknesses required for architectural stone production. All of our natural stone products feature a broad range of colors, patterns, finishes, and textures to help create the perfect showpiece that suits your style. Company wide, our nine quarry locations give us the versatility to match the requirements of your project with the specific stone product you desire.
It is our objective to be your partner in the stone selection process. We will be by your side to develop a relationship that will last as long as our stone will.
The tools and information you’ll find here offer a step-by-step guide to choosing your stone, placing your order, and maintaining the look of your stone and offers resources for those interested in American natural stone products.
